Yuriy Aleksandrovich BILIBIN
Yuriy BILIBIN, USSR Geologist. Doctor of Geology and Mineralogical Science since 1943; corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1946; associate, Central Geology Survey Research Institute.
Education
1926 graduated Leningrad Mining Institute.
Career
1926-1928 worked for Aldan Gold Trust, then for Centr Geological Survey Research Institute (All- Union Geological Research Institute). Studied metallogeny, petrography, tectonics and geomorphology of deposits. Devised theory of tectono-magmatic complexes, linking specific types of ore deposits with concrete stages in the development of the individual zones in the mobile belts of the Earth’s crust and marked by specific aspects of intrusive magmatism.
Discovered several gold deposits in the USSR.
