Career
Spent his childhood at Myasskiy Zavod in the Urals. Fought in Civil War; political work in Siberia, Urals ans Moscow. 1922 first work printed.
Member, Octyabr’ (October) lit associate. Leading contributor to journal Na postu. 1923-1925 exec work with All-Russian Association of Proletarian Writers.
1925-1932 exec work for Russian Association of Proletarian Writers. Member, editorial board, journal Na literatumom postu. Correspondent, newspaper Pravda.
During World War 2 worked for frontline newspaper Krasnyy voin. Correspondent, newspaper Krasnaya zvezda. After World War 2 studied folk epics and history of Caucasus.
Translated and published Ossetion Nart legends, and Ossetian and Azer stories.
