In 1892 Zinaida Sergeevna graduated from pedagogical courses D.I. Tikhomirova in Moscow.
From 1894 till 1902, Zinaida Sergeevna and her husband lived in the village of Nikolskoye, studied charity work. During that time she was the director and actress of the local amateur theatre. She played in performances based on plays by A.N. Ostrovsky, Ippolit Vasilievich Shpazhinsky, and others. Since 1902 Zinaida Sergeevna lived in Moscow, but until 1914 she continued to be in Nikolsky. Later she worked as a teacher at the Bolshoi Theater Opera Studio, transformed into an Opera-drama Theatre (1919-1925, 1935-1948).
During her life, Zinaida Sergeevna played many different and complicated roles, also she spent many years working as a teacher.
Despite the fact, that Zinaida Sergeevna came from a rich family, she was a very modest woman and never showed it off. She was very kind and did a lot of charity work.
Zinaida Sergeevna was married Konstantin Konstantinovich Sokolov, and they had a dauther Zinaida Vasnetsova.
