Abram Romanovich graduated from the Faculty of Natural Science of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute (now Voronezh State Pedagogical University) (1934).
Since 1934 was an assistant, associate professor, professor of the department of botany, dean of the Faculty of Geography (1937–1948), head of the department of physical geography (1948–1950, since 1952); Deputy Director (1948-1950) of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute (now Voronezh State Pedagogical University); one of the organizers and chairman (1949-1951) of the Voronezh department of the All-Union Geographical Society.
Research interests: forest and relic flora, geobotanical and physiographic zoning of the Central Black Earth region. He is the author of about 40 works: Physical-geographical regions of the Central Russian Upland ("Proceedings of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute", 1948); Essay on the history of flora and vegetation of the Black Earth Center ("Proceedings of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute", 1953); Scheme of geobotanical regions of the Chernozem Center ("Geography issues", 1953).
