Education
A retainer of the Takamatsu Clan (Kagawa Prefecture), he was disillusioned in his study of martial arts and turned to Confucianism. Studied under Seiri Koga at the Shoheiko in Yedo, which was the Shogunate’s College.
Career
After studying, he returned to his clan and became tutor to his lord's heir.
