Akiko Tamara was born in 1905 Tokyo, Japan.
Graduated from the Kanda Girls High School.
Tamara Akiko joined the Tsukiji Little Theater as an actress (1924). She made her stage debut in "Holiday" and was very successful. In 1928, she organized the New Tokyo Theatrical Troupe along with Sugisaki Aoyama and others.
After the death of her husband she retired from the stage and took to writing dramas. She was back on the stage, having returned to act in her own play Hime-iwa (Virgin Rock), which was staged by the Bungakuza (a literary theatrical company in Tokyo).
