Founder of real estate and tourism giant Groupe Alliances in Morocco, Alami Lazraq is considered to be one of North Africa’s richest business people. Lazraq began the company in 1994, and has since led it to become the biggest builder of hotels in the country. The 61 year-old originally trained as an architect before working for the government, and then for ONA, Morocco’s biggest conglomerate. He is now president of Groupe Alliances which has a workforce of 160 people, with satellite offices in Marrakech and Paris. Its focu.s is on the hotel industry, intermediary housing, residential real estate and golf resorts. With Morocco’s GDP projected to grow by between three and four percent this year, according to the country’s economic forecasting unit, Lazraq will be hoping to take full advantage of better prospects in the North African state
