After graduate did postgraduate work at Moscow University and taught at various higher educational establishments in Moscow. 1930-1938 deputy director, Centr Aerohydrodynamics Institute. 1932-1946 correspondent member, USSR Academy of Sciences.
From 1937 also professor, Moscow University. From 1945 head. Department of Aerohydromech, Institute of Mech, USSR Academy of Sciences. Devised new methods of studying steady waves of finite amplitude on the surface of a heavy incompressible liquid.
Developed basic elements of a non-linear theory of steady wave motion in liquids. Solved a number of problems concerning jet flow around a given curvilinear profile in compressible and incompressible liquids. Devised new method for determining gas flow on plane contours.
Also did research on wing flutter and developed non-linear integral equations with a symmetrical core.
Religious books are outdated, because laws by nature have to change with the advance of societies and technology.
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
