Aleksey Nikolaevich Antsyferov was an economist, publicist, teacher and Doctor of Economics (1917).
Background
Antsyferov was born on 10th August 1867 in Voronezh, Russia. He was born into the teachers’ family. His father was a teacher of mathematics and physics at Voronezh male gymnasium, mother - assistant of headmistress at the female gymnasium. He was a cousin of Andrei Gavrilovich Rusanov.
Education
In 1885 Antsyferov graduated from Voronezh classical gymnasium with silver medal. In 1890 he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Moscow University. There he studied economics and statistics under the leadership of A. I. Chuprov, whom he later called his "spiritual leader."
Career
In 1890-1902 he was a member of the town council in Voronezh parish and provincial meetings. Since 1902 he was a teacher of political economy and statistics in Kharkiv University, in Moscow People's University named after A.L. Shanyavsky and Commercial Institute in Moscow. Since 1920 he was in emigration. Antsyferov was a teacher of the Russian department of the School of Law of the Paris University, a head of the circle "Studying Russia" in France and a professor at the Russian Law Institute in Prague.
Views
Being as a supporter of the Nîme school, he defined co-operation as economic relations, which differed both from capitalism and from communism. It's essence was mutual aid, free and peaceful cooperation, - moral, it means the Christian principle of love for the neighbor.
Personality
Antsyferov had an excellent bass, liked to participate in Orthodox choral singing. In 1928 he was elected a member of the parish council of the Saint-Alexander-Nevsky Cathedral in Paris. He arranged charity evenings, took part in them as a pianist, singer and composer. Also he perfectly knew the Italian language.
