Alexander Iosifovich graduated from the history department of Moscow State University (1941), he studied at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute (1938-1941).
Alexander Iosifovich was the teacher of history in the village of Northern Novosibirsk region (1941-1942). He was a lecturer (from 1950), associate professor of the department of general history of the Penza State Pedagogical Institute (now Penza State Pedagogical University) (1952-1957). Alexander Iosifovich was an associate professor of the Department of General History (since 1957), Associate Professor (since 1960), Professor (1976-1978) of the department of ancient history and middle ages (since 1968 Department of Ancient History) of the Voronezh State University.
