In 1827-1853 Alexander Bantyshev was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater. He also performed in vaudevilles and dramatic plays. He performed Russian folk songs and romances. D.A. Agrenev-Slavyansky took Bantyshev's singing lessons. He toured in Voronezh in May 1848 (Toropka part in the opera Askold's Grave by Alexei Nikolaevich Verstovsky's), in November 1848 (the role of the Postmaster in the comedy of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol The Inspector General), in May 1852 (Steemid's part in Alexei Nikolayevich Verstovsky's opera Vadim; Russian folk songs).
