Since 1936, Alexey Romanovich was a soldier of the Red Army. He was a member of the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-1940 and the Great Patriotic War. At that time Alexey Romanovich was a Squad leader of the 234th separate sapper battalion (7th Army, North-Western Front). He distinguished himself in February 1940 during the seizure of an enemy fortified area near the settlement of Khotinen (Finland, now Vyborg district, Saint Petersburg Region).
After being seriously wounded in battles near Moscow, since 1942 Alexey Romanovich worked in the body of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow and Rostov. Since 1954, he was a retired lieutenant.
