Amy Gordon was born on January 22, 1949, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. She is a daughter of Lincoln and Allison (Wright) Gordon.
Amy Gordon attended Wheeler School and later studied at Bard College. She graduated in 1972.
After graduation, Amy Gordon started to work as a teacher at Bement School. She also was a director of the fine arts program. She held this post until 2004. She also taught writing and theater workshops for kids. Now she works at the Gill Elementary School in Massachusetts heading up ACT, an after-school acting program for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
Gordon also wrote books for children. Her first book, The Talking Bird and the Story Pouch, was published in 1983. She is the author of eleven books, for young and young-adult readers. One of her last books was Painting the Rainbow, published in 2014.
Amy Gordon is an American writer, who is famous for her children's books, such as The Gorillas of Gill Park and Midnight Magic. In 2004, she received Missouri Association of Librarians award for The Gorillas of Gill Park. Her books were also nominated for Texas Bluebonnet Award, Mark Twain Readers Award and William Allen White Children’s Book Award.
