In his youth attended the studio-workshop of engraver I.N. Pavlova. Graduated from the department for artistic metal processing of the Moscow Higher School of Arts and Industry (1949).
The artist-designer at the car factory named after P.A. Likhachev. As a xylograph he collaborated with the publishing houses "Soviet Writer", "Music", "All-Russian Theater Society" and others, the USSR Ministry of Communications (created more than 100 postage stamps and 500 postal envelopes and postcards).
Since 1964 he worked actively in the field of the book sign (the author of more than 1,000 ex-libris). In the mid-1960s, Kalashnikov was closely associated with the cities of Voronezh, where an exhibition of his works took place (1965, Voronezh Regional Museum of Fine Arts).
After the stay of Kalashnikov in Voronezh (1968), an album of engravings on the tree "Voronezh" (Voronezh, 1969).
In 1965-1967 he executed several ex-librises for O.G. Lasu no one, as well as engravings with Voronezh views.
