Anatoly Ivanovich graduated from the Zlatoust branch of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute (now South Ural State University) in 1968.
Anatoly Shiyanov was working since 1968 as the engineer of the Department of electrical engineering. Since 1970 he is a lecturer, docent, professor, head of the Department of electric drive and automation of industrial installations. During 1975-1978 he is the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. Since 1987 he occupied the position of the head of Robotic Systems Department. During 1978-2005 he was the Vice-rector of the Voronezh State Technical University (now Voronezh State Technical University). Simultaneously since 1992 he occupies the position of the rector of the International Institute of Computer Technologies.
He published over 350 scientific works, including 10 monographs, textbooks and study guides.
