In 1967, Valery Sandrikov graduated from the medical faculty of the 1 st Moscow Medical Institute named after I.M. Sechenov. He worked as a doctor in the city of Kaliningrad, Moscow region in the department of cardiology. In 1969, at the competition, he was recruited to the Department of Clinical Physiology of the Scientific Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Surgery (Director - Academician B.V. Petrovsky). In 1972 Valery Sandrikov defended his thesis, which was devoted to the study of blood circulation in patients with vascular pathology. In 1974 the first monograph "Electromagnetic Flowmetry" was published, co-authored with Professor V.V. Zaretsky. Since 1975, V.A. Sandrikov supervised the laboratory of intraoperative diagnostics.
In 1980, Valery Sandrikov defended his doctoral dissertation on the evaluation of blood circulation in patients with acquired and congenital malformations and the definition of criteria for the radical nature of operations. In the same year Valery Alexandrovich was awarded the USSR State Prize for a series of works on the development and wide application of electromagnetic blood flow meters. Since 1984, Valery Aleksandrovich headed the Department of Clinical Physiology of Functional and Ultrasound Diagnostics. In 2003, for a series of works on the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension, he was awarded a prize of the Government of the Russian Federation. Since 1992, on the recommendation of the Director of the Russian Scientific Center for Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician B.A. Konstantinova Valery Sandrikov recommended to the post of deputy director for science. In 1999, he was elected by the competition for the post of the head of the postgraduate department of the Department of Functional and Ultrasound Diagnostics of the IMA named after I.M. Sechenov.
In 2003 Valery Sandrikov was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. V.A. Sandrikov is an academician of the Medical Technical Academy.
For a number of years, Sandrikov is a member of the editorial boards of the journals "Ultrasonic and Functional Diagnostics", "Functional Diagnosis", "Angiology". Member of many committees under the RAMS and the Ministry of Health.
