In 1998 Andrea Marini received a degree in physics from the Sapienza University of Rome. In 2001 he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
From 2002 to 2004 Andrea Marini was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Basque Country in San Sebastian, Spain, and has been an Ikerbasque fellow since 2010. From 2004 to 2006 he was a researcher at the National Research Council and at the Consorzio Interuniversitario per la Scienza della Materia, Rome, from 2006 to 2009. Since 2007 he has been an assistant professor at the University of Udine, Italy.
On April 21, 2001 Andrea Marini married Alessia Spagnoli. They have two children: Lorenzo, Matteo.
