Graduated from the Faculty of History of Voronezh State University in 1984.
Worked as a teacher in secondary school in the city of Vladimir, as lecturer in Glazov State Pedagogical Institute (Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic), as a teacher in the city of Voronezh in 1989.
Chairman of the Voronezh Humanitarian Fund "Nestor". Since 1999 chairman of the Historical and Cultural Society named after E.A. Bolkhovitinov at the Voronezh State Pedagogical University. Candidate of historical sciences (1992), associate professor (1996).
Participated in writing the books, author of about 200 scientific works, including those dedicated to the history of the church in the Don region and the historical geography of the Central Chernozem region. Also editor of 7 collections of scientific articles.
