Lezhava Andrey Mikhailovich graduated from Tiflis Pedagogical Institute (now Tbilisi Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages).
In 1893 Andrey Mikhailovich was arrested. He spent more than 2 years in the Peter and Paul fortress and then 5 more years in the Yakutsk Fortress.
After the exile, from 1901 till 1903 he led the party work in Voronezh. In 1902 Lezhava served as a clerk of the Voronezh Department at the Moscow Society of Agriculture. After 1917 he was engaged in economic and Soviet work. From 1919 till 1920 Andrey Mikhailovich was the Chairman Of The Central Union. From 1921 till 1922 he was the Deputy People's Commissar of Foreign Trade. From 1922 till 1924 Andrey Mikhailovich was the Deputy People's Commissar of Internal Trade. From 1924 till 1930 he was the Deputy Chairman of the Soviet People's Commissars of the RSFSR and he was also the Chairman of Gosplan. Since 1930 Andrey Mikhailovich was the Director-General of Subtropical Crops of the People's Commissariat of Agriculture of the USSR.
In 1937 he was unreasonably repressed and shot.
While being in the Yakutsk Fortress Lezhava became a Marxist. Lezhava Alexey Mikhailovich was a Delegate of the Xth, XIII-XVIIth congresses of the Party.
Andrey was married to the sister of M.S. Olminsky.
