In 1592, he followed his lord, Yoshitomo So who participated in Hideyoshi Toyotomi's expedition in Korea. So's troops joined those of Yukmaga Konishi in Korea and fought in Pyongyang. In an attack on an enemy fortress guarded by Ming (Chinese) troops, Oishi rushed into the fortress with angry shouts at the head of his followers and decapitated more than 100 defenders thereby enabling Japanese forces to take Pyongyang. When besieged by Chinese troops, he and his brother Tomomasa fought bravely and routed the enemy.
