Studied in Switzerland.
Career
Foreign a while lived and worked in Switzerland. 1894 returned to Russia. Studied mycoflora of Smolensk and Moscow Provinces.
From 1896 associate, Saint St. Petersburg Botanical Garden. 1901-1906 head, Phytopathological Station. From 1907 head, Mycology and Phytopathology Bureau, Learned Committee, Main Land Exploitation and Agric Board.
From 1909 also professor at various higher educational establishments in Peterburg. 1904-1917 edited various journals and compiled Yezhegodnik svedeniy о boleznyakh i povrezhdeniyakh kul’turnykh i dikorastushchikh poleznykli rasteniy (Almanac on Diseases and Injuries of Cultivated and Wild Useful Plants). Specialized in taxonomy and phylogenetics, viral and bacterial diseases of plants, phytotoxicology, fungicides, et cetera
