After finishing his studies at Hangchow Christian College in the winter of 1909, Baen E. Lee taught at Shanghai College and various middle schools in 1909-1911. He employed in Chinese Postal Service in 1911-1917.
Mr. Lee studied at the Comparative Law School of China at Shanghai in 1917-1920, during which time he was also employed in editorial department of the Commercial Press. Then he went to America and attended the University of Chicago for post graduate work in 1920-1921, receiving his Master of Arts degree in Commerce and Administration.
He studied business administration at New York University and received the degree of Master of business administration in 1921-1922, at the same time also taking courses at Columbia University. After that he returned to China in the fall of 1922 and joined the Commercial Press in Shanghai, China.
Mr. Lee was a dean of the correspondence school of business and English editor of the editorial department. He remained with the Commercial Press until 1929 and during the period of 1922-1929, he was at various times, in addition to his regular work, lecturer at the College of Commerce of Southeastern University (now Central University), professor of banking and foreign trade at Chinan Institute at Chenju and director of the department of commerce and professor of accounting at Chihtze University, Shanghai.
Then he was appointed head of the department of commerce of Shanghai College in 1929 and in the fall of that year, was made president of Hangchow Christian College. He was also an author of numerous articles in English and Chinese published in magazines and daily papers, and also of the following books, published by the Commercial Press of Shanghai. All in English, and a few similar works in Chinese.
