From a review I found this book after it had been discarded by a library. That's a pity because the novel is well done and describes the first year of a couple's marriage. It portrays well the ups and downs of adjusting from being single to being married in which a person realizes what is just idealism and what is reality in having a strong, happy marriage. Although I've been married 6 years, I remember having similar adjustments. The other thing I really liked about the novel was because it was written in the 1960s you get a real feel for what it was like during that time and how opinions have changed since. This was a time when women were just starting to realize they could have a career and did not have to only be homemakers. There was often debate between various characters on how wise it was for a woman to work outside the home. If you like a character-driven novel which will also give you a primer on mores in the 1960s, I would recommend this book
