Bernard Lawrence Freemesser received a Bachelor of Arts in 1950 from San Diego State College and an Master of Science in Photography in 1952 from the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Bernard Lawrence Freemesser was a professor of fine arts at the University of Oregon (1973-1977), where he began teaching full time in 1965. Prior to that he was director of the university's Photographic Bureau (1955) and technical director of Northwest Photographic Illustrators (1953-1955).
