Bhudeb Chandra Basu completed his Matriculation in 1 July 1917 at the age of 17 yrs and 6 months from Rai K P Pal Bahadur, Secanderpur. and his Intermediate in Science from Bongobasi College , Calcutta in April 1919. He did his Bachelor of Science in 1923, and Masters of Science and Doctor of Science from Calcutta University in 1935.
Bhudeb Chandra Basu was an entomologist at the Public Health Engineering Department in 1926. He worked as an entomologist at the School of Tropical Medicine in Calcutta in 1927-1939. In 1939-1952 Bhudeb Chandra Basu was a research officer in entomology at Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Calcutta. Since 1960 he was a managing editor in Calcutta.
Bhudeb Chandra Basu did extensive research on human and avian malaria, human filariasis, rat-bite fever, relapsing fever, avian spirochaetosis, fowl cholera, anthrax, rinderpest, and surra. He contributed significantly in the areas of transmission, parasitology, treatment, prophylactics, disease, and insect control. Bhudeb Chandra Basu also was the author of many articles and research papers and was the editor of Journal of Entomology.
