In 1939 Sachchidananda Banerjee was appointed the Nutrition Officer of the Student's Welfare Committee at Calcutta University. He was studying the role of vitamin C in diabetes at School of Tropical Medicine, Calcutta in 1942-1948. Sachchidananda Banerjee was a Professor of Physiology at Calcutta University from 1948 to 1959. From 1959 till his death he worked as a Professor and Head of Physicology and Biochemistry at Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner. He was the author of more than 200 research papers and articles.
