School Commander Nikolai Rogachyov (Boris Shchukin) and famous aerobatic pilot, is in charge of a civilian flying school in Russia. Pilot Sergei Belyaev (Ivan Koval-Samborsky), showing recklessness trying to emulate the test pilot Valery Chkalov), crashes the aircraft assigned to him. Student flight school Galya Bystrova (Yevgenia Melnikova), who likes Belyaev, unfortunately, seeks to imitate him in the air. Commander Rogachev falls for young student pilot Gayla, but their difference in age prevents him from declaring his love. Rogachev teaches that discipline in the air is necessary to survive as a pilot. Finally, that message begins to make sense to Sergei and Gayla.

In 1920, Boris Vasilyevich entered a drama studio under the direction of E.B. Vakhtangov, subsequently was in the troupe of the theater named after E.B. Vakhtangov. In 1926, he was on tour in Voronezh with the theater. As a film actor made his debut in the role of Rogachev in the film "Lyotchiki" (1935), the shooting of which took place in 1934 on the territory of the old airport in Voronezh and in the regions. He played the main character in the films "Lenin in October" (1937), "Lenin in 1918" (1939).
