Boris Yakovlevich graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the Oryol State Pedagogical Institute in 1952.
In 1952-1958 Boris Yakovlevich was a teacher of secondary schools in the Oryol and Lipetsk regions. In 1959-1964, teacher, assistant professor of Marxism-Leninism department at Biysk State Pedagogical Institute (Altai Territory). In 1964-1976, asociate professor, professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Voronezh State University (since 1967 - Head).
In 1972-1976 was a сhairman of the Central Black Earth Department of the USSR Philosophical Society. Since 1976, Head of the Department of Philosophy at Moscow Engineering Physics Institute.
Author of more than 130 works, including books: "Dialectical materialism in the light of modern science" (Moscow, 1971; together with I.D. Pantskhava), "Formation of the modern physical picture of the world" (Moscow, 1985).
