Bruce Joyce was born on March 6, 1930, in New Jersey, United States.
Bruce Joyce studied at Brown University.
When Bruce Joyce finished military service he started his career as a teacher in the schools of Delaware. Later he became a professor at the University of Delaware. He also worked at the University of Chicago. Bruce directed the laboratory school and the elementary teacher education program at Columbia University. His research, writing, and consultation are focused on models of teaching. He also wrote books about teaching methods, such as Strategies for Elementary Social Science Education published (1965), Alternative Models of Elementary Education (1969). One of his last books was published in 2014.
