BELLAIRS, Carlyon Wilfroy was born on March 15, 1871. Son of Lieutenant-General Sir William Bellairs, Knight Commander of St. Michael and St. George, Companion of the Bath, and Blanche St. John, daughter of late Francis Adolphus Moschzisker, Doctor of Philosophy, and Laura, daughter of Reverend E. Beauchamp St. John, Master of Arts.
Education
Studied at His Majesty’s Ship Britannia and Royal Navy College.
Career
Entered Royal Navy 1884. Midshipman, 1886; Lieutenant 1891 (specially promoted, having obtained 1st class certificates at all examinations. Prizeman, R. N. C.); Torpedo Lieutenant.
Retired, 1902; Member of Parliament (Liberal) King’s Lynn, 1906-1910. Sometime Lecturer for War Course of Senior Officers at Royal Navy College. Has acted as special correspondent for the Times during naval manoeuvres and in France.
Presented with Silver Medal of Society of Arts. Founder of Parliamentary Navy Committee.
