Bachelor of Medicine.
Came to New Zealand at early age. A Teacher in Schools of Christchurch, 1881-S6. Tutor at Dunedin Training College, 1886-1888.
Rector of Port Chalmers District High School, 1888-1895. Studied medicine at Edinburgh, Heidelberg, Vienna and London, 1900. In practice as Ophthalmic Surgeon in Christchurch, 1900-1902.
Has taken prominent part in educational and scientific work in New Zealand and served on Board of Education, etc. Appointed to seat on New Zealand University Senate, 1906. Professor of Biology, Canterbury College, University of New Zealand, since 1902. ; Order of Merit (Edinburgh).
Fellow of the Linnean Society (London).
