At age thirteen, grandmother Alma Bail DeCelles taught school in Quebec, Canada. Father, Fernand DeCelles graduated first of his class at Holy Rosary High, Holyoke, Massachusetts. Sister Ruth DeCelles did the same three decades later.
Sons Christopher, 19, Mark, 16, and Salvador, 15, each in turn graduated from Saint Paul Elementary, Scranton, Pennsylvania, with the highestacademic average in his class.
Each won an examination-based, honorific scholarship to Scranton Preparatory School. Christopher won a full tuition scholarship to Saint Joseph"s University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
