1st professor systematic divinity Mount Airy Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, 1864-1883. Trustee University of Pennsylvania, 1866-1868, professor moral and intellectual philosophy, 1868-1883, vice provost, 1873-1883. Editor-in-chief Lutheran Church Review, 1882-1883.
