Chul Soo was born on April 8, 1952 in Koyang, Republic of Korea. Son of Han Young Shin and Bok Sung Kim.

Lecturer Kijeon Women's College, Chonju, Korea, 1978-1979. Senior researcher Korea Research Institute Chemical Technology, Daejeon, Korea, 1984-1988. Assistant professor Yonsei University, 1988-1990, associate professor, 1990-1995, professor, since 1995, department biotechnology, 1995, director Institute Microorganisms, since 1997.

Member advisory committee National Patent Bureau, Seoul, since 1996.
