Chushi Kohanawa graduated from Stock Raising Department of Tohoku University (1914). After serving as assistant and then as assistant professor at his alma mater studied in Germany, Italy and USA as overseas researcher.
Chushi Kohanawa received a doctorate in veterinary science (1928). He appointed professor at Hokkaido University (1928), resigned and became emeritus professor at the same university (1952). Chushi became professor at Obihiro College of stock raising. Assumed additional posts of adviser of Japan Veterinarians’ Association and Hokkaido Veterinarians’ Association. Books include "Seibutsugaku-teki Nyuju Kensaho" (Method for Biological Inspection of Milk) and "Kachiku Nyd Kensa-hd" (Method for Inspection of the Urine of Liive Stock).
