Career

For seventeen years Claiborne owned the Barrow Bookstore in Concord Center. Selling used and rare books is a great preparation for the writing life, fueling speculation about the lives of our thousands of strange and wonderful book collectors.

Her work A Different Drummer is a result of living in Concord for thirty-five years - walking through Walden Woods and around the pond, hearing Thoreau referred to as ‘Henry’ by people who, while not disrespectful, would be able to strike up a conversation if they met him strolling along Main Street.
