Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant Corps of Engineers, United States Army, 1905, advanced through the grades to colonel, 1935, brigadier general, 1938, major general, 1941. Governor Panama Canal and president and director Panama Railroad Company, 1936-1940. Duty with 3d Division, Fort Lewis, Washington, 1940-1941.

Commanding general 6th Division, Fort Snelling, January 1941. Chief military mission to Iran, 1942-1946. Retired 1947.
