Commissioned Second lieutenant, January 1918, and advanced through ranks to brigadier general, United States Army, October 25, 1945. Rated command pilot, combat observer. Served as deputy commander Fairfield Air Service Command, Patterson Field, Dayton, O., February 1942-March 1944.

Commanding general Hawaiian Air Depot, April 1944-July 1946. Commanding general Atlantic Overseas Air Materiel District, Port of Newark (New Jersey) August 1946-April 1947. Deputy commander 1st Air Force, Fort Slocum, New York since April 1947.
