Launching his investigation from H. Darryl M. Trimiew was born on February 21, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, United States.
In 1972, Darryl received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gordon College. In 1975, he got a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University. Later, Trimiew continued his education at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (present-day Northern Seminary), graduating with a Master of Arts degree in 1984. In 1991, Darryl received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Emory University.
In 1978, Darryl worked as a director of Irvington Neighborhood Development Corporation. Between 1978 and 1979, he acted as a member of commission at the Youth and Rehabilitation Commission of Essex County, New Jersey. Also, during the same period of time, from 1978 till 1979, Darryl served as a counselor at Rahway State Prison (present-day East Jersey State Prison) in Rahway.
In 1982, Darryl began working as a teacher at the City Colleges of Chicago, a post he held till 1984, when he was appointed a lecturer there. Between 1985 and 1986, Trimiew was a member of Christian Ethics Colloquy at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia.
During the period from 1988 to 1990, Trimiew lectured at Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth. In 1990, he was made an assistant professor of church in society at the same school. The same year, in 1990, Trimiew was an activist and workshop leader in the Racial Justice Task Force of Georgia Sea Island.
In 1991, Darryl was made an associate minister of the Community Christian Church. In his later years, from 1991 till 1994, he held a position of a consultant to Division of Homeland Ministries.
During his career, Darryl also served as a Professor of Religion at the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Medgar Evers College and a dean of Black Church Studies at Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School.
Currently, he works as a Visiting Professor of Christian Ethics at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, and an Interim Director of the Black Church Studies Program at the Candler faculty, Candler School of Theology.
