Career
Windass is a former theatre critic for The Stage and a journalist for the Hull Daily Mail. He became a full-time playwright in 2007, and received a grant from Arts Council England to write a play about J. Arthur Rank. He used his experience of working at the Hull Daily Mail to tell the story of the community and people around the RNLI station at Spurn Point on the coast of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in the play On A Shout, which was premiered at Hull Truck Theatre in January 2008.
