(This book explores a dramatic change in French attitudes ...)
This book explores a dramatic change in French attitudes towards aging and the aged in the 18th century from one extreme of ridicule and neglect to another of respect and care. It describes the emergence of a new view of old age at a time when demographic, socioeconomic, cultural, and political factors challenged existing institutions and stimulated a remarkable concern for the problems of the elderly.
