The firm was formed in 1980 by Richard L. Vincent, then corporate counsel for Omelette Shoppe, Incorporated., James South. Garrett and William Doctorate. Hasty, Junior, then counsel for Pasquale Food Company, Incorporated.
Later that year, Governor Fob James appointed Garrett as Circuit Judge for the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Alabama, which encompasses Birmingham and Jefferson County, a position he continues to occupy. In 1984, M. David Barber, one of the firm"s attorneys, was elected as District Attorney for Jefferson County, Alabama, a position he continues to occupy.
