• Achievements include development of the Arc-tension specimen for fracture toughness testing. Determined strength of high strength steels at high strain rates and temperatures. Considered as an authority on autofrettage of high pressure vessels. Patentee, inventor in field.

With United States Army, 1953-1955. Fellow American Society of Mechanical Engineers (chairman high pressure technical committee 1987-1991, Outstanding Technology Paper award 1984), American Society for Testing and Materials (task group chair 1976-1977).
