During the period from 1972 till 1976, Dorothée worked in a law office. Between 1976-1980, she served as a metallurgist at a factory. In 1980, Letessier began a career of a writer and novelist.
Dorothée's most famous novel, "Voyage à Paimpol" (also known as "A Breath of Air"), revolves around the desire of Maryvonne, a factory worker, wife and mother, to escape, however temporarily, from her boring life. After leaving her husband a note, saying that she is out for a breath of air, Maryvonne takes a bus to the resort town of Paimpol and amuses herself by getting her hair done, going out to dinner and spending a night in a hotel, where she reads a book, takes a bath and fantasizes. This novel elicited praise from several critics.
