Narinesingh received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1973 from the University of the West Indies.
Narinesingh began his career as a lecturer at the University of the West Indies in 1974. In 1981, he became a senior lecturer at the same university. Then in 1993, Dyer took a position of a head of chemistry department at the University of the West Indies. Since 1997 he has been a dean in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture at that university.
Narinesingh was a treasurer of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences in 1993-1995 and a member of the Association of Science Education from 1984 to 1987.
Dyer Narinesingh was married to Marion Ramcharan. They have 3 children.
