Borbon received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of California in 1986. Eight years later she earned her Master of Science degree in Education with a specialization in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
Borbon began her career as a technology editor and writer at Evans and Sutherland Computer Corporation in 1989 and held the position for three years. Then in 1995, she took a position of a book editor and copy editor for Times Editions, John Wiley & Sons and Simon & Schuster, where she worked until 1997.
In 1995, Edith was appointed an adjunct English instructor at the Centre for English Language and Communication of the National University in Singapore, where she served for a year. Then in 1997, she held the same position at American Academic Alliance. Also Borbon served as an instructor at Heald College from 1999 to 2001. In 2001, she became an assistant professor and senior project general education advisor at DeVry University.
Since 2008 Edith has been an adjunct professor and language liaison at the University of San Francisco. In addition, Borbon does interpreting work in healthcare and social services, and has translated documents for city and county agencies.
