LaRow was born on December 22, 1937 in Albany, New York, United States; the son of William C. and Alice J. LaRow.
LaRow received a Bachelor of Science degree from Siena College in 1959. Six years later he earned his Master of Science degree from Kansas State University. Also in 1968, Edward was given a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Rutgers University. He was awarded an honorary degree from Albany Medical College.
LaRow began his career as an assistant professor at Siena College in 1968. Three years later he took a position of an associate professor at the same college. Since 1975 Edward has been a professor of biology at Siena College.
He worked as a visiting lecturer at State University of New York from 1970 to 1975. Also LaRow held the position of a visiting professor at New York State College of Forestry in 1976-1985. He served as adjunct professor at University at Albany, Albany Medical College and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
Edward founded the Siena Albany Medical College Program in Science, Humanities and Medicine and currently serves as director of the program. In addition, he founded Siena’s Global Medical Volunteers to fund service trips to developing nations for qualified pre-professional students.
Edward LaRow is married to Nancy L. Jarvis. They have 4 children.
