Egor was born on 1 January in 1922 in the village of Gorbachevo, now Vitebsk region, Belarus, in the family of a peasant.

In 1940 Egor studied at Odessa Military Aviation School in Ukraine.
From 1955 he studied at Air Force Academy.
After school Egor worked on the collective farm.
In 1939, he was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the Aviation School.
In 1940-1942 he served as an instructor pilot in the Stalingrad Military Aviation School.
May 1943, he was sent to the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. As a part of the 427th (from July 1944 - the 151st Guards) fighter regiment participated in air battles during the liberation of Belgorod and Kharkov.
In early August 1943, a special group of 12 fighters, code-named "Sword", was created from the best pilots of the regiment. The group, irrespective of the method of covering ground troops, had a constant duty at its aerodrome for launching at the first signal into the airborne zone with the aim of increasing the strike power and extermination, just as the pilots conducted "free hunting." E.V. Vasilevsky was included in this group.
As part of the regiment, he participated in the liberation of Ukraine, in Korsun-Shevchenko and Yasuko-Kishinev operations, in battles over Romania, Hungary.
By November 1944, Guard Captain E.V. Vasilevsky carried out 217 flights, conducted 54 air battles, personally shot down 17 enemy aircraft and 2 in a group and was presented to the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union.
In total, he conducted more than 250 flights for the war, conducted 60 air battles, personally shot down 24 and in group 3 of the enemy's aircraft. All flights were made on the aircraft of Yakovlev design - Yak-1, Yak-9, and Yak-3.
After the war, he continued his service in the Air Force.
Since 1958, Colonel E.V. Vasilevsky was retired.
He lived and worked in the city of Vitebsk.
He died on 1 May in 1991.
He was buried at Mazurin cemetery in Vitebsk.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, “for the exemplary fulfillment of the command's tasks and demonstrated courage and heroism in battles with the German fascist invaders”, Captain Vasilevsky Yegor Vasilyevich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and received Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 5457 ).
Egor was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
