Education
In 1908 he graduated from Tokyo University and specialized in the study of tuberculosis.
Career
In 1917 he was nominated to professor at Keijo (Seoul) Medical College, and won a doctorate in 1920. In 1921 he became professor at Hokkaido University and first chief physician of the hospital attached to the university.
After resigning from the university post due to age limit, he was granted the title of professor emeritus, and became Director of the Central Tuberculosis Research Society and Director of the Council of Trustees of the Hokusei Women's College.
In 1953 he was commended by the Minister of Welfare at a ceremony marking the halving of the death rate ascribable to tuberclosis.
1950 and 1953 - he was returned to the House of Councillors.
