Endo Moto-o was born in Tokyo in 1908.
In 1931 he graduated from Tokyo University.
Endo Moto-o served as professor at Nippon Womens University and at Hosei University, becoming professor of the Kanazawa University (1953). He interested in the history of handicraft, he wrote «History of Japanese Handicraft», «Story of Craftsmen in Modern Times», etc. His work «History of Japanese Handicraft» was based on the results of archeology and discussed ancient culture as that of a classless society, explained early religion as animism and totemism, and trained a stepdy view on the arts and the role of women.
